Requirements: 

  • An undergraduate degree, graduate degree or Community College diploma in Business/Social Services /Human Services/Education or a relevant field of study and a minimum of three years’ experience in a related Business/Social Services /Human Services/Education or relevant sector.
  • Flexibility to work hours to accommodate clients’ needs may result in overtime.
  • Must be able to provide after-school hours and weekend services.
  • Individual skills planning; facilitate workshops, develop modules, train and teach, experiential (work to learn) sessions.
  • Understanding of funding legislation, rules and procedures of the service, and the necessity to meet contractual targets set forth across service targets
  • Must be able to collect and compile data for tracking, assessment, and reporting
  • Capitalize on the internal services offered at LEADS to support the clients
  • Well informed of external services in the communities that can be activated to support the client’s needs
  • Reliable transportation to provide services in the designated area. A vehicle is required.
  • Must be able to provide in-person and some virtual services in the designated area. Redeployment to the outside of the designated area as needed.
  • Valid Driver’s license.
  • Verification of car insurance for business use under your name.
  • A current satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Criminal Check is required.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada with verification.
  • Bilingual in French or other languages, and First Aid and CPR certification is an asset.
  • Must be able to provide proof of two doses of COVID-19 vaccination or documentation of a medical exemption or reason related to protected grounds under the Human Rights Code.
     

LEADS offers competitive salary packages, an incredible work environment, and career advancement opportunities. Hourly wage ranges from $25.00-$30.00 for Youth Coach, immediate Employee Assistance Program, and supplementary Health and Dental benefits with six months of service completion. Travel reimbursement is $0.64/KM.

Summer Employment Counsellor – Summer 2025

  • Have completed secondary school or are currently working toward an undergraduate degree, graduate degree or community college diploma in business and/or social services or equivalent and have one year of related experience in a business, social services, sales or educational setting;
  • Reliable transportation to provide services. A vehicle is required.
  • A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including conflict resolution and people management skills;
  • Ability to maintain the strictest confidentiality;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, family members, and the general public;
  • High degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability;
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing;
  • High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts;
  • Demonstrated excellence in organization and time management skills;
  • A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Screening Criminal Reference Check;
  • Must be able to provide proof of two doses of COVID-19 vaccination or documentation for a medical exemption or reason related to protected grounds under the Human Rights Code as per Provincial Health Care regulations

The contract will be 16 weeks in length (35 hours per week with an hourly rate of $18.20). The start and end dates are between May and August 2025. The role is predominantly located in-person at LEADS’ London office. Flexible working arrangements (including some remote work) may be considered.

The successful candidate will assist Employment Specialists and support clients throughout the process of developing or enhancing pre-employment and life skills and / or securing paid employment positions and retaining these jobs.   Employment Specialist Assistants help interview clients to ascertain employment and educational history, transferable  skills, career goals, interests, aptitudes and abilities of clients; assist each client to develop a service plan and implement this plan; facilitate the development and enhancement of life skills and pre-employment skills; assist clients to develop job readiness skills and job search strategies; collect labour market information for clients regarding job openings and skill requirements; teach clients how to write resumes and prepare for job interviews; counsel clients on work and career-related issues; facilitate pre-employment  group sessions;  prepare documentation,  reports and statistics as required by service funders; seek out employment opportunities for clients through employer outreach and marketing; provide on and off site job coaching supports and post hire follow up.   As well Employment Specialist Assistants advise employers on human resource issues, job accommodation matters and pre-select candidates for interviews.

The Summer Survey Interviewer is responsible for the following duties: deliver survey questions as directed; make calls to contact survey participants; gather information from survey participants; complete data entry for reports; ensure that all legislated acts guidelines are being followed and adhere to the overall mission and values of the organization; conduct various clerical and office work such as faxing, mailing, filing, photocopying, etc.; create, maintain and update electronic databases; registration and audit of applications; support the development of the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Committee; support building resources for Pawlooza and be available during the month of August; any other duties as assigned.
